Two words you’d probably never thought you’d read together. Unfortunately, sheds don’t get as much love as they deserve. Summer is your chance to show your shed some affection. With a little bit of time and effort, your unsightly garden shed can become the feature you’ve been missing in your outdoor space.
Instead of hiding it, make your shed a part of your garden, but first you need to organise its contents. Throw away anything broken or never used. Before putting everything back, add simple shelves made from planks of wood to hold small tools, fertilisers and pots. Install hooks to hang tools like spades and forks. This gets them off the ground and stops them from falling over.
Now you have the interior sorted, give the outside a facelift. Clean down the wood, and sand down if necessary. Most sheds have lovely window frames and sills, so why not consider painting these in a complementary colour? With plenty of lovely colours on the market now, the traditional brown or dark green paints we’re used to can be cast aside. Add a couple of beautifully planted window boxes and pots out front and you’ve transformed your sad looking shed!
And the best thing is, you can do this in a weekend and it’ll completely change the look and feel of the rest of your garden.
